Child broke into Web sites worldwide
A FIFTEEN YEAR OLD kid who is alleged to have hacked 140 web sites in 23 countries protesting the war in Iraq faces time in His Imperial Highness' clink, according to a report. The child, who lives in the Shizuoka Prefecture, had hacked into company, governmental and educational Web sites around the world, said the Japan Times.
The report claims that that he and a pal started hacking sites last November using a PC and programs downloaded from the Interweb in a bid to spread an anti-war message.
But now the case has gone to Tokyo prosecutors, who will decide what happens to him.
The report claimed that police "trolled" the Interweb searching for cyber criminals and caught the kid, who used the Sunakuzira handle.
He may avoid punishment. The Japanese government has only just vowed to get tough on Cybercrime. Because the Diet has not yet passed this legislation, this particular case is putting pressure on the police in the different prefectures for allegedly acting illegally and accessing records without due authority.
The other factor in the case is that under Japanese law, the alleged hacker is a minor.
