Below are quotes from some of the typical hackers we profiled on this documentary:

"Yeah, I learned how to hack the hard way, by looking and listening, and trying stuff out. I'm not like most people in that I didn't just go out and buy my computer. I had CurzTech Computing build a custom PC for me, telling them all the different specs like how many MHz my hard drive had to be, and how many gigabytes I wanted in RAM. I also don't fall in line behind everyone on software, I use Win98SE. The SE stands for Secure Edition, and allows me to hack other people knowing that I won't be caught." - hacker known as mR. 70'S mUSIC gUY

"[S]pending 20 or 30 hours to get into a website, stuff like that, that's lame. I don't do anything if I can't be finished and have my hack sign up on their web page in less than an hour. I've got too much to do to waste my time probing for holes. That's why I go after dot-mil [Hacker speak for ".gov" domains] sites only." - Hacker known only as "anonymous coward" on SlashDot.Org, a heavily trafficked Hacker site.
Editor's note: This one hacker, the Anonymous Coward, seems to be someone who posts on every topic on the slashdot.org site. That must show you how good he is.

"I got into hacking originally because my mom needed me to help her setup her new computer. Soon, I was on it all the time. I mean, all I did was hack this, hack that. Most people don't realize how hard it is to dial into a real ISP (not AOL) when you don't use the installation software. I mean, how many people have heard of a COM port, or know how to map it to a Modem connection? Not very many, but I learned all that." - hacker known as "Baev"

"Hacking isn't just logging on to AOL or MSN and stealing account passwords. You have to know how to get into them then. That AOL software doesn't allow you to just through up new accounts, you have to work it, and it's not easy at all." - unknown hacker
